Kiel street impressions watercolor painting print
Watercolor print originally painted on 300gsm 100% cotton Hahnemülle paper, size A5.
This is a painting from my sketchbook I experimented in when I was in Kiel, Germany on my exchange semester back in 2023. I loved walking around the streets near the university (Muthesius Kunsthochschule), especially around golden hour, so that the shadows were lower and more expressive. This yellow building captured my attention because of its brightness but mostly because of this adorable green tree/bush and its shadows. That's why I decided to capture it and paint it in my new sketchbook. The scenery, city photos and lakes I took pictures of were also my motivation to invest in a good watercolor sketchbook (Hahnemülle) and Winsor&Newton watercolor palette.
A city so full of color in spring and summer as Kiel deserves its own series of paintings and artwork, which I'm still working on even years later.
